Serj Tankian, System of a Down frontman, a solo artist and an advocate for the Justice Within Armenia initiative, posted a selfie with Daniel Ioannesian from the Union of Informes Citizens with the following words:
“Daniel Ioannesian from the Union of Informes Citizens is a great Armenian activist uncovering electoral irregularities in the school system of Armenia”.
Days before Armenia’s April 2 parliamentary election, over 100 school principals have been accused of illegal campaigning for the ruling Republican Party, following the release of audio recordings.
Serj Tankian, along with Armenian-American film director Eric Nazarian arrived in Yerevan Wednesday.
Tankian will observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in Armenia.
In February Tankian addressed compatriots in Armenia and the diaspora with a call for free and fair elections.
“A vote is the truth, a vote is the people’s will, a vote is power,“ said Tankian and asked independent observers to join the effort and safeguard the people’s vote in Armenia, be “our eyes and ears at the polling stations.”
