Հայկական ուսումնասիրությունների և հետազոտությունների ազգային ասոցիացիան (National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR) հաղորդում է, որ օրերս կյանքից հեռացել է նշանավոր հայ պատմաբան Ջորջ Բուռնությանը:
Նա բազմաթիվ գիտական հոդվածների, պատմական հիմնարար աշխատությունների և գրքերի հեղինակ էր, որոնք վերաբերում էին Արցախին, Հայաստանին, Անդրկովկասին, Իրանին և Ռուսաստանին:
Ծնվել և նախնական ուսում ստացել է Իրանում, Սպահանում, դասավանդել է ամերիկյան մի շարք նշանավոր համալսարաններում:
