On the evening of Thursday, June 2, Armenian reporter and author Tatul Hakobyan delivered a talk on Armenia’s Foreign Policy issues, Four Day April War between Artsakh and Azerbaijan and the Nagorno Karabakh peace process at St. Garabed Armenian Church & Cultural Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
Rev. Arsen Kassabian, Pastor at the St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church, made an introductory note.
During the discussion Hakobyan and the audience touched upon the Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy issues, Armenia-Russia, Armenia-Georgia and Iran-Armenia relations, Turkish and Azerbaijani policy in the Caucasian region, German’s Bundestag recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
Among the topics Hakobyan discussed was the role of the diaspora in helping Armenia grow as a democratic nation.
Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Las Vegas Andy Armenian made a closing notes.
The talk and Q&A session followed by a presentation of Hakobyan’s two books – “Karabakh Diary; Green and Black”and “Armenians and Turks”.
Tatul Hakobyan’s US trip is financed by the ANI Armenian Research Center, Yerevan, Armenia.
Hakobyan has formerly worked as a correspondent for the newspapers Ankakhutyun (1991-1995) Yerkir (1998-2000),Azg (2000-2005), Aztag (since 2005), The Armenian Reporter (2008-2009) and as a political observer on regional issues of Radiolur news program of Public Radio of Armenia (2004-2008).
Since 2009 he has been an analyst at the independent Civilitas Foundation. Hakobyan is the coordinator of the ANIArmenian Research Center and the reporter with the CivilNet online TV and Aztag daily.
Hakobyan is the 2016 winner of “The Time for Freedom of Press” – for consistent and comprehensive coverage of Karabagh conflict.
