Richard G. Hovannisian’s “The Republic of Armenia” Presented in Armenian

The Armenian Center for National and International Studies (ACNIS) and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia held a special presentation on April 21, of the Armenian translation of Volume II of Professor Richard G. Hovannisian’s seminal four-volume series entitled “The Republic of Armenia.”

Academician Richard Hovannisian, a pioneer of modern Armenian studies who devoted 25 of his 55 years of teaching and scholarship to the preparation and publication of his monumental work on the first Armenian republic, 1918-1920, was present at the conference hall of the Academy’s Presidium to address the audience on the occasion of the translation of his second volume subtitled “From Versailles to London, 1919-1920.”

Armenian Academy Vice President Vladimir Barkhudaryan, History Institute Director Ashot Melkonyan, Dr. Rubina Peroomian, Professor Azat Yeghiazaryan, and Raffi K. Hovannisian were among the many attendees to take the floor in tribute to Richard Hovannisian and his tireless track record as scholar, educator, writer, and public servant.

In responding to the congratulatory interventions Professor Hovannisian summarized the second volume, described the organizational challenges to its proper translation, and expressed his gratitude to its translators and editors, the Academy of Sciences, ACNIS, and the Tigran Mets publishing house.
